Deputation
Missionary Speakers
We are continually connecting with missionaries and working on their deputation visits. This is a great opportunity to connect with God’s work beyond our community.
What is Deputation?
The Church of the Nazarene funds its mission’s enterprise, and supports missionary families, through the World Evangelism Fund (WEF), which is given by local churches around the world throughout the year.
Missionaries supplement the WEF by traveling to their home country every few years (deputation) to raise money for specific ministry needs and projects, as well as to share with churches what God is doing around the world and inspire greater involvement with God through missions.
The money they raise through deputation offerings is used for a variety of personal needs including medical expenses, vehicles and equipment for field ministry, educational benefits for the missionaries and their children, home furnishing, special mission projects, and more.
Why should your church host a missionary? For many people, this may seem straightforward–you’ve hosted missionaries for years. But what about those who come behind us? One of our primary duties as older believers is to train up the younger ones in the way they should go, to pass the baton and all that. The key is to engage them in missions–setting the example of how we are called on mission. Romans 10:14-15 notes, “But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him? And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent?” To have others go into all the world means that we need to start by telling them the good news of Jesus Christ and his desire that we go make disciples, and then equipping them to be part of this work in His name!

Deputation Giving
Here are the best ways for deputation funds to get to our missionaries. Please share this with your church treasurer so they are aware!
- Individuals, organizations or churches can mail a check to:
GMC-Church of the Nazarene, Attn: Donor Services, 17001 Prairie Star Parkway, Lenexa, KS 66220
It should be made payable to “General Treasury Service” with “Missionary Name – Deputation” in the memo line.
- When possible, CHURCHES are encouraged to use the Funding the Mission website. This ensures that the funds are directed directly to the missionary deputation account, and the church record is updated to reflect the current giving. The church treasurer can log in to the Funding the Mission website, click on the “Giftbox” icon, and select the “GTS Contribution” and “Missionary Deputation.” Then search for the missionary and click on their name.
- We encourage INDIVIDUALS to give using the missionary pledge page for one-time or ongoing monthly gifts. These links are found on the missionary profile pages.
